Alternative ways to enjoy wine

|Brunch Agency

We love wine. We also love messing with it. Turns out we're not the first — wine countries like Spain and France have been playing with their pours for centuries, finding new ways to enjoy a bottle beyond the glass. Here are three worth trying, next time you're sharing a bottle with friends.

The sparkling cocktail

Start with the classics. The Mimosa — fresh orange juice and sparkling wine — is the one everyone knows. From there it branches out: Bellini, Aperol Spritz, French 75, Kir Royale. Different mixers, same idea — let the bubbles do the work.

Our GROWN Blanc de Blanc is built for exactly this. Pour it long, add whatever you're craving, and let it carry a lazy afternoon.

The Kalimotxo

Red wine and cola gets a bad rap. We say don't knock it till you've tried it.

The Kalimotxo has been a staple in Spain's Basque region since the 1920s, and it's travelled since — Jote (black vulture) in Chile, Jesus Juice in Argentina, Katemba in South Africa, Bambus (bamboo) in the Balkans. Different name everywhere it lands, same idea everywhere it lands: equal parts red wine and cola, over ice, lemon slice on the side. Simple, cold, and exactly what summer's for.

Try it with our GROWN Syrah, out soon.

The Sangria

For when one wine won't do. White, rosé or red — whatever suits the mood — mixed with a splash of brandy, a splash of soda, a squeeze of orange juice, and whatever fresh fruit's on the bench. The only rule: make it by the jug. This one's built for sharing.

Try it with our MADE Sauvignon Blanc.

However you take your wine — straight, mixed, shared over a long lunch — we'd love to pour it for you.
