Our Black Label Cabernet Franc comes from a well placed Yarra Valley site in the Melba Valley. Cabernet Franc is the parent grape of Cabernet and Merlot, like its former offspring, in this cool climate style you can expect a distinct herbaceous scent on the nose. Unlike its kin, expect zingy red berry tartness and a crisp finish. Grippy tannins make the wine all the more savoury.
The 2023 vintage was a cooler thanks to the La Niña phenomenon. The cool conditions allowed for the gentle ripening of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay without any major heat spikes. This has translated to lovely acid and bright fresh fruit characters.
